Eligibility Criteria for Bank PO exam:

If you want to apply for IBPS PO exam, then you must carefully check the eligibility requirements that are set by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection: 

1. Nationality 

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen.  
  • Candidates from Nepal or Bhutan are also eligible.  
  • Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1 January 1962 and settled permanently. 
  • Persons of Indian origin who migrated from countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Vietnam, and some African nations with the intention of permanent settlement in India are also eligible. 

2. Age Limit 

  • Candidates must be at least 20 years old and not more than 30 years old.  
  • Relaxation in the upper age limit is provided for reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC, PwD, etc., as per government rules. The details of category-wise age relaxation are given in the table below:

3. Educational Qualification: 

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline (BA, BCom, BSc, B.Tech, etc.) from a recognised university.  
  • The degree must be approved by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.  
  • Applicants should have valid proof of graduation (mark sheet or degree certificate) at the time of registration.  
  • Basic knowledge of computers is required as the exam is conducted in online mode.

The job description or job profile of a Probationary Officer (PO) in a bank consist of a number of duties. Some of these duties can be listed as follows:

  1. The Bank PO will be responsible for handling public relations, customer's complaints, and most other issues in regard to customer satisfaction.
  2. He or she will be responsible for managerial work such as supervising the clerical staff of the branch office.
