Odisha Makes e-KYC Compulsory for LPG Cylinders
Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister K.C. Patra said the Odisha government has made e-KYC mandatory for domestic consumers to get LPG cylinders. The move was taken so that only genuine customers receive cylinders. LPG distributors have been instructed to supply gas only to those who complete e-KYC. The government has also banned the illegal sale of 1 kg and 5 kg cylinders in the open market. Strong action is being taken against black marketing, and on 5th April, authorities in Dhenkanal seized 27 cylinders from an agency involved in illegal sales, with legal action to follow.
